The Christening Ceremony
Christening refers to the naming ceremony (to christen means to give a name to).  In the ceremony, a child is welcomed into the Church by the ceremonial sprinkling of water on the head.
This  action symbolises new life and of being washed clean from sin.
The child will be brought up in the Christian faith folowing a promise made by parents and godparents.
