About the ‘Desiderata’

The word “Desiderata” comes from the Latin meaning ‘desired things’.  The Desiderata was once believed to have been written in 1692 ….
but this was jus the foundation date of the Baltimore church where a copy of the poem was found.
The verse is by the American writer Max Ehrmann (1872–1945) who only became known after his death when the verse was published in the 1970’s.
It was authorised for publication in the 1940’s without a copyright notice and so copyright was forfeited because it was deemed to be in the public domain.
