The oak leaves are reminiscent of the proverb “from little acorns mighty oak trees grow”.
The sampler has a border of linked oak leaves and acorns stitched in variegated thread to create subtle colour variation.

The design is available on 14 aida or 27 count evenweave.
evenweave has a more refined appearance but is trickier to stitch (follow this link to view)
so 14 count is recommended for beginners.
